The Rabindra International School (RIS) has a ‘test week’ each term and end of term examinations called ‘trials.’ The results of these appear on report card of the students which are also made available to the parents. The report also features a cumulative analysis of each student’s co-curricular interests and achievements. Full reports are provided each term. After each term is over Parent-Teachers Meeting (PTMs) would be held where the parents would receive a detailed report of their wards’ individual subject choices as well as, their wider emotional and physical development. Housemasters write end of term letters and the school intranet is updated several times a week with news and updates of a group and individual nature to all parents. There is also an academic system of caution for students about below performance as well as inspiration for achievement, such as, proficiency prizes given through the year and culminating at the school’s annual Prize Giving ceremony. Tutors meet the students several times a week in their very small tutorial group, academic progress is pursued along with individual and group advice, study skills, mentoring and support giving. Parents are also able to email about their ward’s individual development progress etc to the academic co-ordinator as well as the tutors and Housemaster for advice and support. There is a clear communication structure laid out in the term calendar featuring contact details of the respective staffs for respective concerns, especially for the parents.
